Something Beautiful: Henriette Browne

I recently became acquainted with the French artist Henriette Brown. My favorite of her works is the above painting of a child writing.  I can scarcely stop looking at it. I also like Sisters of Mercy (1859).

Her use of light reminds me of the Dutch Masters.
